Martha Riley first became involved with Project Education Sudan after attending a workshop about Sudan several years ago at the University of Denver where she heard Carol and several of the Lost Boys speak. Martha, a teacher in the Cherry Creek school district particularly enjoys teaching her students about Sudan and says she loves “the impact I see on our American kids as they learn about Sudan and realize the value of the education they receive in America”. Beyond working with students in the U.S., Martha also traveled with the 2007 Journey of Hope Team to Sudan last year where she had a great time playing with the children of Maar and Konbek, teaching them Duck Duck Goose, Fishes and Minnows, and London Bridge is Falling Down. Martha is a great asset to PES and has worked tirelessly to plan numerous fundraisers and spread awareness about the Lost Boys at many local schools. Martha is currently planning our Walk for Sudan which will be held October 20th at Campus Middle School/Cherry Creek State Park. To learn more about volunteering with PES click here. |

Katy Snyder is currently a graduate student at the University of Denver where she is pursuing her masters in cultural anthropology. Her area of focus is refugees and she is currently writing her thesis on Christian conversion among the Lost Boys of Sudan. Katy became interested in Sudan several years ago after seeing the documentary “The Lost Boys of Sudan”. Soon after seeing the movie, she heard about PES through an anthropology professor who was working with the Lost Boys in Boulder and began to volunteer with PES, working at fundraisers and tutoring one of the Lost Boys in his college courses. Katy particularly likes the way that PES approaches development in Sudan from a grass-roots, on the ground perspective and actively consults with the Sudanese community both in Denver and in Sudan.
